“Now THAT'S a fun afternoon!" - Isabel, Age 8
- I grew up with the “Krazy Song” as performed by my great-grandmother here.
- About five years before my daughter was born, she appeared to me in a dream one night, complete with the name we eventually gave her, hence, “You Meet the Nicest People in Your Dreams”.
- Like many families, mine belted out “George Washington Bridge” every time we drove over it.

Can music be your soul mate? I grew up all over the country with parents who loved listening to Simon & Garfunkel, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, and The Beach Boys. At home and on road trips, music was always on. I have so many fond memories of The Eagles, America, and the Little River Band in the background as my brothers and I played with Legos. My dad ran radio stations during this period – first a Top 40 station during elementary school, and then a hard rock station as I got into high school…
In college, I discovered punk and assorted alternative, and sang in cover bands. I also started learning guitar at age 20, mostly by ear and with a few pointers from a friend. I moved to Boston in 1989 and began working at legendary alternative music store, Newbury Comics, where I fell in love with Americana. At that time, I joined the newly forming Apollo Landing, playing rhythm guitar and singing back-up vocals. (Apollo Landing was once described as a cross between The Pretenders and 10,000 Maniacs.) We got signed to London-based and Polygram-distributed Go! Discs (labelmates included The La’s, Billy Bragg, and Paul Weller). Go! released a 4-song EP in England that was met with glowing reviews.
When the band split up not long after, the members dispersed to all corners of the country and the globe. But I had fallen in love with songwriting as well as playing, and I’ve kept at it since…recording and releasing three albums of adult-oriented material, as well as an album for kids (written primarily around the time of my wife’s pregnancy and daughter’s early childhood).
I hope some of my music lands on you in just the right way!
-Tony
